West Street, Storrington (1912 postmark)
Newsagent, High Street, Storrington. When the 1911 census was held, Lucas was living with his parents, John and Nasrin Lucas, at Star Cottage in Storrington. He was 30 years old and had been born in the village. His father was a jobbing gardener, who had been born at Petworth. His mother had been born at Shipley.
Lucas sold good quality black and white real photographic cards of Storrington and Parham that are labelled "Lucas, High Street, Storrington" on the back. The captions are printed on transparent slips and the pictures lack borders. Two 1912 postmarks have been recorded.
Lucas is not listed in Kelly's 1915 Sussex Directory and may have left the village by this date. His cards are rarely seen for sale today, and may only have been sold for a brief period.
